30.4.20 Year 6 *Updated

Good Morning Year 6,

P.E – As usual we would like you to start the day with some physical activity, so remember to tune in to Joe Wicks at 9am on his YouTube channel for his daily workout or if you go for a walk today, take some pictures of you and your family. I’m hoping to set a small challenge for you to do later, it involves you and a ball with the aim of completing 10 keepy-uppies. I will submit a video of me doing it.. all you have to do is match 10 or do better, if you do more, I will then try and hit your target.

Maths – This week we are looking at week 2 on White Rose which focuses on angles in shapes such as quadrilaterals before ending the week with some problem solving.  Remember to watch the clip first for help before having a go at the worksheet, if you get stuck or need support, you can always email across to myself or Miss Wood for some extra guidance.  Today is lesson 4 – More Problem Solving.  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Literacy including spelling work – Using the new Government initiative home schooling page developed by teachers – I thought we would follow week 1 which was set last week.

Focus = Newspaper: Using direct speech to write quotes

In this lesson, you are going to use the rules of direct speech to write quotes.

Quick write: Visit the Lit film fest website https://litfilmfest.com/resources/the-quick-fire-write-ks2/ as today we are going to take part in their quick write task – Homeschooling which is a real time experience at the moment, so you should be able to fully immerse yourself in answering this challenge! Click on the video and follow the instructions but the rule is, you can not use more than 200 words. Good luck.

Reading: Today I would like you to do some reading for pleasure and then design a book poster telling me all about your book and whether or not you would recommend it.

*** Having difficulties with our Purple Mash reading platform this morning but if it updates I will set Chapter 4 of The Snatch to complete.

Art: I hope you have all had a chance to look at the live feed of the Blue Tit in our bird box at School. Currently there are 9 eggs waiting to hatch but what I would like you to do today is visit the site http://www.seenature.org.uk/schools/parkside-community-primary/

Then carefully try and draw a picture of the Blue Tit and the 9 eggs, hopefully when you visit she will be in the nest, if not I have put some pictures on our facebook, twitter and Instagram account also.

Finally could you write some facts for me about Blue Tits and maybe come up for a name for the one in our bird box.

Don’t forget to email us your work so we can see what you have been up to. Have a great day!
