Scientist Selin
On Wednesday, Parkside were lucky enough to have an ex-pupil come into the school and deliver a science assembly and provided amazing interactive workshops for KS2.
In year 3 they had to figure out which scientist wrote out a letter. They used all of the markers on paper and got to water test them to see who it was. Year 6 in chromatography using mobile and stationary phase. They had to guess what orange juice was made of by analysing the moments it was and detect it in a sample. Year 5, mobile and stationary phases using 5 cups, 3 with colour water and 2 empty. Tissue bridges, children had to predict whether colours could travel through to the new pot and mix. In year 5 they learnt about chromatography an important scientific processes. They got to use different ink samples in different liquids to see which was the best liquid to demonstrate chromatography. They changed the size of the ink sample to see what effects this would have.
